Zoë Ruiz’s writing has appeared in The Believer, The Millions, Lit Hub, The Rumpus, Marketplace, and anthologized in California Prose Directory, Rooted, and Golden State Writing. She has received scholarships, awards, and residencies from Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, Oregon State University’s Graduate School, and Spring Creek Project. She is pursuing an MFA in Fiction at Oregon State University.
Ruiz is a literary editor, literary event planner, and book publicist. She edited Nothing Ever Dies by Pulitzer Prize Winner Viet Thanh Nguyen, which was a finalist for the National Book Award in Nonfiction and the National Book Critics Circle Award in General Nonfiction. She has produced over 100 events and has worked with PEN Center USA, McSweeney’s, Black Mountain Institute, The Believer and the Last Bookstore, L.A.’s largest independent bookstore. In 2017, she coordinated The Believer and Black Mountain Institute’s inaugural literary festival, featuring Miranda July, Dave Eggers, Carrie Brownstein, ZZ Packer and many more.
